Real Estate Taxes

Your property taxes are based on three (3) taxing jurisdictions – Salford Township, Montgomery County, and Souderton Area School District (SASD).  The real estate property tax is based on a millage rate levied each year by the respective governing bodies of those jurisdictions on your assessed property value.  For example, the Salford Township real estate tax is set by the Township Board of Supervisors in December each year as part of the annual budget process.  The School District real estate tax is set each spring by Souderton School Board.

Real Estate tax bills for County/Township are sent by February 1st of each year.  SASD tax bills are sent by July 1st of each year.  If you do not receive within 2 weeks of each date, please notify the tax collector.

Where Your Real Estate Tax Dollar goes:

JURISDICTION   MILLAGE RATE   PERCENT
Salford Township   1.4   4%
Montgomery County and MCCC   4.313   11%
Souderton School District   28.9259   85%
    34.6389   100%

Salford Township real estate taxes remain at 1.4 mills and have not increased in 20 years.

Township/County and School Real Estate Taxes not paid by December 31 will be liened with the Delinquent Taxing Authority, who will add their collection fees to the original bill penalty amount.

Montgomery County Tax Claim Bureau is the Delinquent Taxing Authority for the Township/County Real Estate Taxes.  Portnoff Law Associates is the Delinquent Taxing Authority for the School Real Estate Taxes.
