Build & Zoning Questions
Salford Township issues ZONING PERMITS only. Ordinance 133 - Zoning Code 2006 can be found under the "Document Center". Refer to Article 3, Section 302 referencing permits for 3rd party inspections of PA Uniform Construction Code (PAUCC).
Zoning Permits are required for:
- Construction of a new building, addition, or alterations to existing buildings, decks or porches
- Accessory Use Buildings
- Sheds, Barns, Detached Garage, Pool House, Gazebo
- Swimming Pools and Hot Tubs
- Patios, Decks, Retaining Walls
- Signs - new or replacement
- Solar Panels
- Road Occupancy Permit - Driveway ROW
- Change of Use Permit - Alterations to existing structures, mechanical or electrical changes, driveway expansion, sidewalks, egress access, increasing impervious coverage.
Zoning Permits are NOT required for:
- Replacement of windows
- Roof replacement
BUILDING PERMITS - Salford Township has opted out of the Uniform Construction Code. Refer to Ordinance #133, Article 3, Section 302 referencing permits for 3rd party inspections of PA Uniform Construction Code (PAUCC).
Non-Residential and Multi-Family applicants are required to obtain plan review and inspection services from the Department of Labor and Industry or a 3rd party inspector under contract with L&I department. UCC Building code must be followed for all construction, electrical and plumbing projects.
USE & OCCUPANCY PERMITS are required for new construction and are NOT required at resale.
PROPERTY RECORDS - an electronic database is maintained by Township Administration on each parcel (lot) in Salford Township. Records may contain historical permits, plot plans, drawings and correspondence. These files are public record and may be reviewed during regular business hours. Specific property tax records and tax maps can also be obtained at Montgomery County website for property records at www.montcopa.org.
